The LabIt was dark, but that wasn't unusual. It was dark most of the time. The experiment often wondered why the night lasted so long. Did it last this long everywhere else? Sometimes the experiment wondered if there was an everywhere else. Sometimes he feared the lab was really all there was. He had tried exploring one time, tried to reach out for those threads of reality he could just barely see. Dr. Cobswell had punished him for that. The tests had been especially brutal that week. There was a creaking sound and a snake of light slithered across the floor, bending oddly as it hit the barrier that made up the experiment's cage. He watched it, paying little attention to whoever had entered. It was doubtful whoever it was would pay much attention to him. Then again, maybe it would be Dr. Casonovich or Dr. Ente.
